BUYING

Accounts & auction registration

Do I need an account just to browse horses?

No. Public auction catalogs and seller profiles can be reviewed without bidding. You need a Buyer account and completed Account Setup before you can register for an auction and bid.

Why do I register for each auction if my account is already verified?

Your Cavvyo Account Setup verifies you as a buyer. Auction registration remains separate because each seller sale has its own terms. Bid Ready buyers can register while the sale remains active, and the auction page shows your registration status and bidder number.

How do I know whether I am registered?

Open the auction page. The Auction Access area shows the auction start, registration close and your current status. When registration is active, it displays “Registered to bid” and your bidder number.

Can I follow a seller?

Yes. Follow a verified seller from their profile or an auction they present. Cavvyo can notify you when that seller publishes a new approved auction.

BIDDING

How the auction works

Which countdown should I follow?

Follow the countdown on the individual horse. A qualifying bid placed inside the final 2 minutes adds 2 minutes to that horse's closing clock.

What is Max Bid?

Max Bid lets you privately authorize the most you are willing to pay. Other bidders do not see that amount. Cavvyo advances only as needed in the required bid increments up to your limit, with automatic bidding activating in the final 2 minutes.

Is the reserve amount public?

No. Buyers see whether the reserve has been met, not the seller's private reserve amount.

What happens if I bid near closing?

A qualifying bid placed inside the final 2 minutes adds 2 minutes to that horse's closing clock. Each additional qualifying bid inside the new final 2 minutes extends it again. The horse page always shows the current authoritative countdown.

Can I retract a bid?

Accepted bids are binding under the posted auction terms. If you believe a bid was entered in error or there is a technical problem, contact Cavvyo support immediately. Do not assume a bid has been removed unless Cavvyo confirms it.

PAYMENT & PICKUP

What happens after a win

What will I owe if I win?

Cavvyo does not charge buyers a Cavvyo marketplace fee. Your Purchase record starts with the winning bid owed to the seller. Cavvyo does not collect sales or use tax by default; you explicitly accept responsibility to determine, report and pay any applicable tax not collected through Cavvyo. Transportation and any seller-offered payment processing charge are separate and shown when they apply.

How do I pay the seller?

Wire transfer is the recommended method for equine purchases. After you win, Purchases shows the seller's locked payment instructions and settlement contact. Before sending any wire, contact the seller using the contact information shown in Cavvyo and confirm the exact beneficiary and banking instructions directly with the seller. Never rely on replacement instructions sent by email, text, message, or an unsolicited phone call. The seller—not Cavvyo—verifies cleared wire funds. If the seller offers ACH or card, Cavvyo opens Cavvyo Payments Checkout on that seller's connected merchant account and Cavvyo Payments confirms the payment status. After payment clears, the buyer saves the handoff plan and receives a protected release code that the seller verifies only at the physical handoff.

When do I receive the pickup address?

Pickup details unlock as the transaction reaches the appropriate stage. Seller payment must be confirmed before Cavvyo and the seller can complete the release workflow.

Does Cavvyo arrange transportation?

No. Buyers and sellers coordinate pickup or transportation directly. Cavvyo keeps the payment, release requirements, seller messages and pickup information attached to the purchase.

SELLING

Sellers & auction companies

How do I become a seller?

Create one Cavvyo account, apply for Seller access, complete the seller profile and private verification, and finish the required seller-payment setup. Approved sellers then use the Seller workspace.

Can the same horse be added to two active auctions?

No. Cavvyo checks current auction assignments in the interface and again on the server. A horse already assigned to a current auction cannot be accidentally added to another current auction.

What do I need before submitting an auction?

You need sale-ready equine records, a bidding-open time, lot-level closing schedules, winner payment instructions, pickup/release requirements, accepted Cavvyo seller commission authorization, and a verified Cavvyo commission billing method. Cavvyo checks readiness automatically and routes only exceptions for admin review.

Where do I track sold equines, seller payments and Cavvyo fees?

Use Seller → Sales. Each sale shows the winning bid, buyer payment status, Cavvyo seller commission, release and pickup. Your account also shows total commission assessed, paid to Cavvyo and currently due.

What does Cavvyo charge sellers?

The standard Cavvyo seller commission is 10% of the winning bid with a $250 minimum per sold equine. The commission base is the equine purchase price only; sales tax, card/ACH processing fees, and other buyer-paid amounts are excluded. Cavvyo charges the seller—not the buyer. For connected card/ACH buyer payments, the locked seller commission is deducted automatically from the seller's sale proceeds. Wire/manual sales use the seller’s authorized backup Cavvyo billing method after buyer funds clear. The same published Cavvyo commission applies to every seller, and each auction locks its applicable commission before bidding opens.

Can a seller avoid the Cavvyo commission by taking payment by wire or cash?

No. Cavvyo’s commission is created from the completed auction result, not from the buyer’s payment method. A verified seller commission billing method is required before auction marketplace. Cavvyo records the commission when the horse sells. Connected card/ACH payments deduct it automatically from seller proceeds; wire, cash, and other manual seller payments use the seller's authorized backup commission billing method after buyer funds clear. A failed or otherwise payable Cavvyo commission prevents future auction publishing until resolved; waiting for buyer funds does not.

TRUST & SUPPORT

Verification, diligence & help

What does “Verified seller” mean?

It means Cavvyo reviewed the identity or business information represented by the verification badge. It is not a guarantee about a horse, every seller statement or a future transaction. Buyers should still complete their own due diligence.

Should I get a pre-purchase examination?

Cavvyo encourages buyers to use the independent evaluation appropriate for the purchase, including current video, direct questions, a trial when practical and an independent veterinarian when desired.

What if my account was blocked by a risk signal that was already reviewed?

Cleared or monitored Trust & Safety signals are designed not to keep re-blocking the same reviewed condition during the trust window. If your bidding access still appears incorrect, contact Cavvyo support so staff can review the account and transaction context.

How do I get help with a purchase or sale?

Use the Help action attached to the relevant Buyer purchase or contact Cavvyo Support. Keeping the question tied to the actual auction or transaction helps the support team resolve it faster.
